About

What does Japan look like to you?

Maybe it looks efficient, polite and easy to travel around.
Maybe it looks like sushi, temples, bullet trains and neon streets.

None of that is wrong.

But Japan looks a little different when you actually live here.

A restaurant with thousands of Google reviews may not be where I would eat.
A place that never appears in a guidebook may be somewhere I would happily travel an hour to visit.
And some things that seem simple from the outside can feel very different once you are here.

That is what JAPAN IN PLAIN SIGHT is about.

This is not another guidebook telling you the “10 best things to do in Tokyo.”

It is one local person's view of Japan — the food I would choose, the places I would go, the things I think are worth knowing, and the things travel websites sometimes make sound easier or better than they really are.

I’m not a travel influencer.
I’m a regular Japanese office worker living in Tokyo.

I like good food, nature, and discovering places that feel worth the journey — whether they are famous or not.

I don’t know everything about Japan, and I won’t pretend that I do.

But when I share something here, I want to tell you what I genuinely think.

Google can tell you what exists.
I can tell you what I would choose.

Welcome to JAPAN IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Yes, cherry blossoms can be green, too.
They usually bloom about one to two weeks later than the famous pink ones.
